San Antonio Art Galleries
San Antonio art galleries, show rooms, studios, and museums are found throughout the city. The San Antonio Museum of Art features Greek and Roman antiquities, Latin American, pre-Columbian, folk, and Asian art, and is a must for true art lovers. La Villita is a community of artists and craftsmen, eateries, and shops on the south bank of the San Antonio River, and is an important part of the River Walk experience. Originally settled by Spanish soldiers, German and French businessmen left their marks on the neighborhood's multicultural architecture towards the end of the 19th Century. Then there's the McNay Art Museum which was the first museum of modern art to be established in Texas. Its 14,000 objects include works by O'Keefe, Hopper, Cassatt, Cezanne, Gauguin, Picasso, and Matisse. The small town atmosphere of this city of over a million diverse human beings is attractive to many artists, and as a result there is a thriving art community. Have a look in the BlueStar Arts Complex, Finesilver, ArtPace. Where do local artists hang out? Try the Liberty Bar. Patrons of art will have a great time exploring the many San Antonio art galleries.
